Irish Prospects Impress Across Europe: A Statistical Review

This weekend, several Irish talents made their mark across Europe, proving their worth through standout performances backed by impressive numbers. From Troy Parrott’s creative display in the Netherlands to Gavin Bazunu’s heroic showing in Belgium, Irish football is on the up with young players as the driving force. Here’s a roundup of Irish players abroad that caught my eye based of numbers.

Troy Parrott

Troy started up front in a 1-0 win vs Fortuna Sittard. Parrott was impressive and is certainly one of our best players based on recent form.

Gavin Bazunu

After a tough start to life in Belgium the Gavin Bazunu we all know and adore was back to his best in a 2-1 win at Club Brugge. (Standard Liege’s first win over Club Brugge since 2013) But he was unfortunately stretchered off after a collision with Simon Mignolet.

John Patrick Finn

John Patrick Finn played the second half in a 1-0 loss to Rennes. John impressed in his cameo and is already a fan favourite in France. He’s yet to make a senior appearance for Ireland but the March international break could be his time!

Aidomo Emakhu

Ex Shamrock Rovers man Aidomo Emakhu played a vital role in Millwall’s 1-0 victory over Derby County, going on an unstoppable individual run and putting in the cross that lead to the winner. Hopefully this means we get to see more of Aidomo in the coming weeks.

Will Ferry

Will Ferry gave an electric performance for Dundee United at the weekend in their 1-0 victory over Motherwell. The 24-year-old has been performing very well this season and is making a case for a first cap in the near future.
