Due to the FAI Cup, there were no games in the First Division last weekend. However, all teams are back in league action this Friday night.
Cobh Ramblers vs UCD
The Rams were surprisingly defeated 2-0 by Kerry in the cup and will now be looking to make amends. In the league, Cobh have recently achieved three consecutive victories. Will the hosts achieve their next success against an in-form UCD side?
Prediction Cobh Ramblers 2 UCD 1
Finn Harps vs Athlone Town
The Harps still have a small chance to get into the promotion race. But for that, a victory against Athlone is a must. The Donegal side has impressed in recent weeks both in the cup (3-1 against Bray) and in the league (1-0 against Kerry). It would be a surprise if they missed out on the three points against the bottom-placed Midlanders.
Prediction Finn Harps 3 Athlone Town 1
Kerry FC vs Longford Town
While Kerry won their cup match against Cobh Ramblers, Longford narrowly lost 2-1 to Shamrock Rovers. Still, the defeat against the record champions should give the Town some encouragement. With a W at Mounthawk Park, the visitors could perhaps look up the table once again. Meanwhile, Kerry will try to maintain the momentum after their victory against Cobh.
Prediction Kerry FC 1 Longford Town 1
Treaty United vs Dundalk
Dundalk are currently in strong form and recently celebrated four consecutive victories. If this trend continues, the Lilywhites will certainly be able to retain their current position. This evening in Limerick, however, the table-toppers face a difficult task. Treaty haven’t won since mid-July, but they have managed three respectable draws against Dundalk in their three games this season.
Prediction Treaty United 2 Dundalk 2
Wexford vs Bray Wanderers
The hosts are still in the race for promotion, but the form is not exactly in favour of Stephen Elliott’s side. In the last ten league games, Wexford have only secured two victories. Even though Bray lost to Finn Harps in the cup last week, the third-placed Seagulls are more likely to secure the W tonight.
Prediction Wexford 1 Bray Wanderers 2
