Caoimhín Kelleher has arguably his biggest career decision to make in the summer of 2025. The calm and technical shot-stopper is rumoured to all but certainly leave Liverpool in the off season. A club which he joined in the summer of 2015 at the age of 16.
Now after 10 years at the club, the Corkman must decide where to spend the best years of his playing days. The 20 times capped international was consistently linked with a move to Celtic over the past few seasons. But as his stock has increasingly risen over the past 12 months, that move looks incredibly unlikely now.
Here are 7 Clubs the 26-year-old could join…
Chelsea
The West End giants of London have had goalkeeping issues plague their 2024/25 season. With Kelleher experienced, but still with a long shelf life left as a Goalkeeper. The Blues could sort their number 1 position for a decade with this move. This would present a real opportunity for Kelleher to cement his place amongst the top goalkeeping talents in world football given the pedigree of the football club.
Newcastle United
The Toon will likely face Caoimhín Kelleher in March in the EFL Cup final as the club seek to win their first major trophy since 1955. The goalkeeping department with the Geordies is possibly in need of someone in the age bracket of a Caoimhín Kelleher. This would be a great move for Kelleher. Playing in Europe in front of over 50,000. Let’s not forget, Ireland legend Shay Given made his name here as a top Premier League keeper.
Nottingham Forest
Likely to be involved in European Competition next season, although it is hard to say which of the three competitions that will be. Matz Sels turns 33 on February 26th. Potentially, a smart move for all parties.
West Ham United
Fabianski is 40 in April and one would imagine Graham Potter would be a big admirer of a goalkeeper with Kelleher’s skillset. This would be a very interesting move.
Bayern Munich
With Manuel Neuer turning 39 in March, the club may be looking for the next long term Bayern number 1. Neuer was 24 when he made the move as a promising goalkeeper at Schalke to the German giants. Could the Bavarians be looking to the Cork native as his successor?
Bayer Leverkusen
The current Bundesliga champions will be competing in the Champions League next season and are currently chasing down Bayern Munich for the league title. Current shot stopper, Lukas Hradecky of Finland turned 35 in November. Could Xabi Alonso be looking to bring a Liverpool man to North Rhine-Westphalia?
Inter Milan
Three-time winners of the European Cup. The Italian giants may intrigue Kelleher with the club battling it out for the Scudetto this season. The lifestyle itself would interest a player and current goalkeeper Yann Sommer turned 36 in December so could be one to watch.
