Kevin Zefi’s time at Inter Milan is soon coming to an end, with a transfer to AS Roma set to be announced in the coming days/hours.
Zefi is currently in Rome to undertake a medical after Roma’s offer for the talented winger was accepted yesterday.
It is Lawnsdowne Roar’s understanding that Zefi will sign a deal at the I Giallorossi until the summer of 2027. The former Shamrock Rovers winger was very close to signing for Newcastle in the summer but the deal fell through at the final hurdle.
The player and Inter Milan had already come to an agreement before the season had started that he would leave this month which led to Inter leaving him in the under 18’s which hasn’t been good for his development.
There was interest in Kevin’s signature from other Italian clubs and teams from Belgium, Switzerland and Germany. Basel in particular were hugely interested in the Dubs’ signature.
But Roma was always Zefi’s first choice with the option to stay in a country that he loves and the Serie A side giving 13 debuts in 2023 being a big reason why he chose Roma. The former St Kevin’s Schoolboy see’s a pathway to the first team in Rome that simply wasn’t there at Inter under Filippo Inzaghi.
Time will only tell whether this is the right step in Zefi’s career but it’s a move the player is certainly happy with.
